Can My PC Run Windows 11?

Check your computer’s compatibility before Windows 10 support ends in October 2025.

Unfortunately Microsoft has decided to stop supporting windows 10 after October 2025 and Windows 11 has stricter system requirements than any version before it, and millions of fully working PCs are being told they can’t upgrade. If you’re unsure whether your system is compatible, you’re not alone.

Here’s how to check and what to do next.

Step 01

Use Microsoft’s Free Checker Tool

Microsoft offers a quick, free tool to help you find out.

Download the PC Health Check Tool

Once installed, click “Check Now.” You’ll see either:

  • “This PC meets Windows 11 requirements”

  • “This PC doesn’t currently meet Windows 11 system requirements”

  • If requirements are not met, You will get a breakdown of what your system is missing.

Step 02

Check BIOS Settings (Optional)

Some PCs are blocked from updating to Windows 11 due to certain settings being switched off in the bios

  • Reboot your computer, and whilst it’s restarting load into BIOS (usually by pressing Del, F2, or F10 during startup)

  • Look for and enable:

    • TPM (or fTPM for AMD)

    • Secure Boot

  • Once enabled, save your changes and exit bios

Step 03

Initiate upgrade to Windows 11

If your computer is now eligible for upgrade, you can download and install Windows 11 for free using the Windows Update tool.

If you have made changes in bios and your PC now meets the requirements, you can upgrade to Windows 11 for free through Windows Update.
